Why Regular Physical Exams for Joints Should Be Normalized

It is widely accepted that we should see our doctors for regular physical exams.

These “physical” exams often include bloodwork, urine samples, and so on.

However, we often neglect physical exams that examine our JOINTS and CONNECTIVE TISSUES.

Simultaneously, the number of people that are aging poorly and being impacted by things like early onset osteoarthritis is skyrocketing.

There is an IMMENSE amount of value in checking in with your physiotherapist for a regular physical exam.

There are many EASY things that you can do at home to help you age well and offset things like early onset osteoarthritis.

Similarly, there are quick and easy things that you can do at home to maintain your mobility over time.

Unfortunately, most people don’t know about these things until after they have already experienced something like arthritis.

However, you can get out ahead of this by taking care of your joints and being proactive!

We offer full body physical exams called Functional Range Assessments where we assess your:

·      Neck
·      Thoracic spine
·      Lumbar spine
·      Scapula
·      Shoulder
·      Elbow
·      Wrist
·      Hip
·      Knee
·      Ankle
·      Toes
·      Breathing
·      Posture + Gait

This assessment gives you a picture of the current state of each joint and how well your body is currently able to move and function. This helps you pick up on things that can be improved before they develop into problems for you.

These sessions also include education regarding things that you can do to keep your joints healthy overtime and offset degenerative changes to structures like the cartilage in your joints.

We then send you videos for any specific exercises that we recommend based on your assessment findings. This way you can feel confident that you know exactly what you need to do at home.
